National Theatre Discover:Phase2
Interface Design

Following the success of the National Theatre:Discover project, the National Theatre asked me to explore the potential of a second phase of development work on the Discover project.

I produced a range concept designs and technical specifications for a suite of new tools. These include an interactive time-lapse viewer, script writing tools, a 3D character creator, noticeboards, a rich-media glossary and a complete user management system.

Most exciting is the interactive time-lapse viewer, which would allow users to scrub through archived time-lapses of the National Theatre’s huge paint frame (where all the sets get built). The user could choose to look at a small period of time, where they will get a lot of detail on the time lapse of the objects being built in that period. Alternatively they could choose a large period of time which will yield less detail, instead showing a complete overview of what goes on in the paint frame.
